How I Actually Earn My Online Income

As I recently went over my sources of actual online
income, I noticed that I get a lot of smaller checks,
from numerous places, every month.

Over the years, I’ve promoted dozens of products
very successfully, and some of them offer recurring
commission. Now those have built up to nice little
“oil wells.”

I used the term “oil wells” because I was visiting the
site of my friend Greg Writer, and that’s what he named
his site. On his site, Greg actually shows many of
the checks that he gets like clockwork. I noticed that
I get checks from many of the same places.

Yes, I do one-time promotions for product launches,
but those are not my bread and butter. Instead it’s
the regular recurring income from those oil wells.

For example, I have a private label of the 1Shoppingcart

since 2003, and have build up a nice customer base.
We do have an affiliate program incidentally.

I’ve sold lots of web hosting over the year, and
that has started to add up.

My pet project now is an audio, video, article, and

submissions AND pays 50% commission. Over time, that
has started to add up.

Even ebooks that I’ve written have turned into oil

heavily (in articles, interviews, etc.). That ebook

I actually have dozens of these little oil wells going…
some producing a little, others producing a lot. They
add up.

I remembers listening to Ted Ciuba joke about getting
commissions checks and having NO idea what they were
for. I have the same thing happening to me because
they often just have the company name, but the product
is mentioned nowhere on the check. I guess that’s a
good problem to have though.

My real point in today’s newsletter is that when
marketing affiliate products, you don’t always need to
go for a homerun. Marketing several products that sell
consistenly is probably a much better model.

Over time it can all add up, and you could find yourself
with a lot of internet oil wells.

I prefer products offering recurring commissions, and think
that you can see why :-)

What A Lizard Taught Me About Internet Marketing

Today, while out on a walk, I paused for a few minutes
to “converse” with a lizard.

I noticed the tiny lizard (less than 6 inches long)
sitting in a pile of branches on the side of the trail
that I frequently walk.

As I moved closer, the lizard looked up at me… as if
to say “I see you but realize that you are no threat.”

I said out loud, you’re a wise creature, and I suspect
that God put you here to teach me a lesson.

“Watch and learn” the lizard said.

So, I sat down less than a foot from the lizard and he
continued to teach me.

The lizard slowly inched forward, taking two steps at
the most, towards some target that I didn’t notice.
Periodically he’d glance over at me with one of his
eyes to make sure I was still watching.

After about 15 minutes of this, he lunged forward and
grabbed a winged insect. I’m not sure what it was
though it looked akin to a grasshopper.

The lizard slowly swallowed his lunch whole, then said
to me, “Did you get it?”

Shaking my head, I said “No.”

The lizard said, “Most of you internet marketers teach
people to take massive action, and that that is the
secret to success. Not everyone can take massive action
for various reasons, and so you need an answer for those
people too.”

As I reflected upon the lizard’s message, I understood.
This tiny creature was incapable of soaring like an
eagle, or even traveling many miles in a day. I
suspect that traveling even 1 mile would exhaust it.

The lizard taught me that, for some people, the key is
NOT massive action, but consistently taking just 1 or 2
steps at a time - making sure that the steps are in the
right direction.

That lizard taught me that for many people, the key
wasn’t making $1000 per day, but making just $100 per day.
After all, that’s $3000 per month, and will get many
people over the hump.

That lizard taught me that many people don’t even WANT
to make $10,000 per month. They just want to help with
the mortgage or car payment, and maybe save up for a
college fund.

The lizard sensed that I understood. At least I convinced
myself that he did. I thanked my worthy teach, got up and
finished off my walk.

As I arrived back at my home, I realized that now more than
ever, it’s my job get people to read the ebook that I helped

Will You STOP Running With The Internet Marketing Herd Please

Today, I’d like to share with you the single biggest,
most-profitable revelation about running an online
business that I’ve ever shared.

It could mean the difference between your success and
failure online, and I don’t think that’s being melodramatic.

I’ve spent the past 2 months working closely with
a few clients… helping them to flow out their
business models.

I started working with them when they asked me for help
overcoming this recession. These were people who came to
me because they couldn’t make “internet marketing” work!

Let me explain.

Most of the online marketers that I know jump from product
launch to product launch, selling courses, ebooks, etc.
that are destined to fail!

You may have noticed that I haven’t promoted any recent
“internet marketing product launches.” I don’t care for the
hype-filled model.

Far too many of these products are little more than theory,
written by someone who has never done what they are trying to
teach. Some of them teach what worked YEARS ago, and others
don’t really teach anything… but the webpages sure look
pretty.

I’ve actually studied many of these products over the past 12
years, and they can work, but it’s just really difficult for
the average person to make them work.

I find far too many of those product incomplete.

Even more frustrating is the fact that before you can fully
apply what one product teaches, the next latest and greatest
“magic formula” is rolled out.

It’s not your fault, if you’ve tried some of these products
and they DIDN’T WORK. The truth is that we didn’t give you
a chance to let them work before we offered you the next
product.

So, I said ENOUGH!

You need time to learn a system that works and then time to
actually use it.

Some gurus’ business models depends upon you rushing off to
buy the next best thing before you’ve even tried out the last
one that they sold you.

They depend upon you constantly chasing after the greener
grass… something seemingly easier.

Here’s what I’ve discovered…

You need dependable recurring income.

I’ll show you how to do that in a minute. Constantly
chasing after new customers is a LOSING game. It’s much
better to build a group of loyal customers and then take
proper care of them… offering them only what they really
need and want!

That’s why I now try very hard to focus my clients and
students on marketing to THE ideal customer.

I focus my coaching clients, and want to focus you on offering
your expertise, and your products and services to local
offline businesses who have NO CLUE how to use the internet to
generate business to their brick-and-mortar establishments.

These are businesses with budgets set aside for growth. They
spend money every week on things like Yellow Page advertising.
It’s a normal part of what they do and they don’t hesitate to
spend. They understand that if they don’t their competitors may
pull ahead of them.

I want YOU to step in front of these customers instead of chasing
the latest fluff-filled internet marketing product launch.

These businesses desperately need you. You have the know-how
that can literally SAVE many of them.

So, I beg you to STOP what you’re doing. Stop “running with
the herd” and do what actually works.

Listen…

Some people will sell you anything. They’ll offer you the
next shiny thing after next shiny thing… and as long as you
continue buying them, they’ll take your cash.

If you are an affiliate marketers, offering these products,
you’re not much better off.

The gurus are just using you to build their list so that
they can herd them all into their “coral.”

Most of the big names will NEVER do a promo for you though. They
only cross-promote their buddies products!

They get YOU to send your best customers over to their lists, and
then they sell them follow-on products, often not offering you ANY
additional commissions.

It’s insane!

That’s also why you’ll often see the gurus offer you several dollars
per email just for handing your list over to them. You have to see
what’s happening though.

Here’s where you need to focus…

Offline businesses learning to leverage the power of the internet are
one of the fastest growing segments of our market… and they already
have funds set aside for what you can provide them!

Those of us who are tapping into this goldmine even call it our
cash cow.

Instead of trying to sell to people who will not buy your products,
why not market to those anxious to use your expertise, and pay
handsomely for it.
