I interviewed Peter Drew, creator the Brute Force
SEO software back in December, 2009.

I had trouble hearing/understanding Peter during the
interview and understand that he had trouble
hearing/understanding me too.  So I didn’t release
this audio at first, but after doing  some heavy editing,
to improve the sound quality, I realized that this was
simply too valuable to NOT share with you!!!

In this interview I asked Peter some fairly tough
questions and things we covered included:

Discussing automation and why you should use software
to do  your SEO.  How software can be much “smarter”
than users who doesn’t need the understanding and
experience.  Know-how is programmed right into the
software.

Peter once had 5000 software generated websites…
back in the AdSense hey-day!

Peter’s Mom was making too much from AdSense (based
upon what he taught her) and it threatened to affect
her pension,  so she had to scale-back

Peter has been creating software for online marketers
since 1995.

Peter once had the ability to send messages to any
of 40 MILLION ICQ users!  They once sold affiliate
product via ICQ and was constantly in the Top 5 for
any product that they jumped on! That’s where Pete’s
team honed their skills in software development!

I’m on my way out the door, headed over to Orlando,
Florida. I’ll spend the day there, hanging out with
a couple hundred Internet marketers who will all be
on The Marketers Cruise, which departs from Port
Canaveral tomorrow.

We’ll spend a day at sea, then a day in Cozumel, Mexico,
then a day at Isla Roatan, Honduras, then a day in Belize,
then a day at Costa Maya, Mexico, then a day at sea,
then we’ll be back at Port Canaveral, Florida (near Orlando).

During the 7-day cruise, I’ll be relaxing and recharging,
but I’ll also be setting up joint ventures for myself and
my clients. Many of the top people in my industry will be
on the cruise and they are there largely to network, make
deals, and even create products. I’ll be working on all of
these things during the days when the ship is at sea.

I’m telling you about my cruise, because it’s a part of
the lifestyle that I’ve built for myself. I’ve worked
fairly hard over the past 13 years building not only an
online business but the LIFESTYLE that I want.

As I look at so many online marketers really struggling,
I have to ask myself why that is. Why do things now just
fall in place for me, but not for them.

I generally see three big reasons:

1) They are usually selling the wrong product or service.
They are marketing something that they like for whatever
reason, but that the market simply doesn’t. That’s easy to
fix.

If the product or service you’re marketing isn’t selling,
simply stop banging your head against a wall, and offer
things that your customers DO want.

2) They are unrealistic in their expectations, which leads
to them focusing on the wrong things. Don’t buy into the
myth of overnight success. It’s very rare.

Most of the very successful people that I know online
gradually built up to it by just applying common sense
business practices, and working at building their businesses
every day.

If it were as easy as some people would have you believe
then many doctors, lawyers, etc. would leave their high stress
jobs (where they ARE trading time for money) and become
online entrepreneurs.

The fact that more highly-educated, professionals haven’t
left their real world jobs (jobs that they often hate and feel
trapped in) and flocked to the Internet is empirical evidence
that it’s not as easy as the dream-sellers would have you
believe.

Your job is to get a realistic picture of what you can
accomplish,
and in what time-frame, flow it out, and then steadily work
towards that objective.

3) They over-analyze and over-complicate things. I personally
am a fairly uncomplicated person. With college training in
Economics and Business, I’ve been trained to see the world as
it is, NOT as I would have it be. So, I observe, make decisions
and then take action.

You will never have perfect information, or all of the data
that you feel that you need to make flawless decisions. So,
stop striving for that. Instead, you gather as much information
as is practical, QUICKLY analyze it, and then take the most
logical action. That’s how you move forward and get to where
I am.

Again, you don’t over-analyze. That will merely paralyze you
into doing nothing, and when you do nothing you don’t make
progress.

So, my big secret is that I don’t over-complicate things. I
observe, analyze, and make the best decisions based upon the
information that I have available. I haven’t always done things
that way. In fact, I once had a mentor who told me that I could
“complicate a ball bearing.” Then he taught me how to just take
action, and acknowledge that I would from time to time make
mistakes.

That’s life.

On the topic of what you should be doing or marketing online,
only you can answer that question. What do you enjoy doing?
What skills or specialized knowledge do you have? How much
spare time do you have?

In recent discussions with friends and associates,
I mentioned that I actually focus MORE on selling
holiday related items than I do internet marketing
type stuff at this time of the year.

They asked for examples.

Most major manufacturers and department stores
now seem to have affiliate programs, so you can
market everything from toys, electronics, and
clothing, to higher end luxury items and vacations.

I keep it very simple…

I wrote a cookbook back in 2001 that was a hit
from the very start, and has sold steadily every
year since then.  I noticed long ago that I sell
more copies of that cookbook between Halloween
and New Years Day than the rest of the year combined,
so that’s what I focus on this time of the year
instead of how-to-make-money products.

My cookbook’s success is actually what first
brought me to the attention of the Internet
Marketing world.  I was first invited to speak at
a seminar back in December 2002 because I was an
example of someone doing well with a product
OUTSIDE the how-to-make-money niche.

such as names, birthdays, anniversaries,
spouses names, etc., and as the cards are printed,
each one is personalized.

I can “mail” 400 or so cards to my list in about
15 minutes… and for less than $1 each.
