In the main forum, I notice and responded to a thread
with the title “Are Coaches/Mentors Really Even Necessary?”

The majority of the respondents seem to feel that since
you really can study what others are doing, and then
try to copy what you observe, that hiring a coach or
mentor is not 100% necessary.

The predominant sentiment seemed to be that you can save
money by learning via trail and error, even though it may
take a little longer.

I happen to value my time too much to want to grow my
business via trial and error.

I also want to ensure the results that I get enough to
be willing to pay someone to share with me what they’ve
spent a lot of time and energy learning.

As I reflect back upon my life, I realize that I’ve
actually spent my whole life paying others to teach me
things that I could probably learn on my own… if I were
willing to put in months… or years, experimenting.

I spent 12 years in grade school, and then spent a small
fortune to got to college (for five years) and earn a
degree. The college degree that I earned was in Business
and Economics, but I then went into the military for 20
years.

Do, I consider those five years in college a waste?

No… You needed a college degree to become a military
officer, which wasn’t even a goal that I started out
with. Initially, I wanted to be a medical doctor. A few
chemistry classes told me that I didn’t really have the
background preparation for that. In high school, I wasn’t
guided along a college prep path. Most kids who grew up
on welfare as I did, had no real hope of going to college,
and most of those who did were so poorly prepared that
they flunked out.

I discovered after 2 1/2 years that I probably didn’t
have what it took to be a doctor, so I switched majors.
That’s part of why it took me five years to graduate!

I also worked as many as three different part-time jobs to
be able to afford college, and I consider the “mentoring
and coaching” that I received in college to have been an
excellent investment.

After college, the military NEVER stopped putting me
through mentoring and coaching. I was first trained as
a navigator, then to do airdrops, then to be an instructor,
then to be a staff office, and then to manage a budget
in the tens of millions of dollars, and then to test
computer software and manage software tests.

In all of those things, I was first instructed, then
watched as I did what I was taught, then had someone
give me at least one formal evaluation each year.

Lives often depended upon my mentors being able to transfer
their knowledge and skill-set to me. I dropped people and
tanks out of airplanes, so there was no room for cutting
corners in my training. Lives literally depending upon me
actually KNOWING what I was doing.

I actually think of my online training as being just as
critical. Since most new online businesses fail, I
considered it essential to get the best training practical.

Incidentally, most new offline businesses fail too.

As I started my online business, I didn’t spend a lot
of money on learning for my first SIX years. I largely
just subscribed to every free newsletter that I could
find, and bought a few books.

That led to a period of painfully slow growth.

After six years online, I was successful enough, selling
a physical cookbook, that I was invited to speak at an
internet marketing seminar. At that seminar, the other
speakers suggested that we jointly create and market
a few products.

At that very first live seminar, December of 2002, I
discovered that we all grow our businesses a lot faster
by cooperating, and by sharing information.

Most of the other speakers at that first seminar
developed into my informal mentors and coaches. One,
Ramon Williamson, developed into a more formal coach
when I attended one of his weekend workshops, and wrote
my second physical book under his mentor-ship.

Two years later, I was really enjoying being a platform
speaker and getting invited to speak at lots of events.
However, I noticed that many of the other speakers were
MUCH better at selling things from the platform, and so
I decided to let Armand Morin’s mentor, John Childers,
coach me in being a better speaker.

I attended John’s “$30,000 Speaker Training” and developed
skills that I probably would have not developed in another
five years of trying to figure thing out on my own.

Today, I get invited to speak at so many events that I
turn down 80% of the invitations. Many of the event hosts
do base their invitations on how well speakers sell from
stage, and whether or not they have been professionally
trained.

So, investing in professional mentoring and training has
paid off for me hundreds of times over.

As I look at the mentoring available to internet marketers
today, I’m convinced that the very first thing that most
aspiring internet marketers need to do is get to a live
event. That WAS the first significant thing that I did
that was a tremendous growth catalyst for my business.

Not all live events are the same though. Out of ALL of
the live events that you can attend, I recommend the

I honestly don’t think that’s fair to my subscribers who
would really benefit from that first product IF they would
just take the time to go through it and actually APPLY what
it teaches. I shouldn’t be distracting them from being able
to do that.

2) With many promotions that we do, our subscribers may
not even get around to reading an email, or being ready
to buy, until a week or more later. With the one-and-done
promotions, by the time they are ready to focus on the offer,
it’s too late.

So, we waste all that effort. Those are two reasons that
I’m focused on the product that Terry recommends. It’s
something that you can honestly promote today, and earn
commissions on a year or more later.

way that you earn LIFETIME commissions… and you get credit
even if they delete their cookies because his affiliate

Back in 1990, while stationed at Yokota Air Base,
Japan, I let some co-workers talk me into climbing
Mt. Fuji.

It was a rather long, somewhat tedious climb, that I
think took me five hours. We started our climb at a
“station” already partly up the mountain… where
buses commonly dropped people off.

We climbed at night, when it was cooler, with
flashlights strapped to our heads. It was fun looking
down the mountain and seeing all of the other lights,
like a trail of ants

The air got thinner and thinner as we climbed, and
I had to stop and take numerous breaks. We arrived
at the top somewhere around sunrise, if I remember
correctly.

After a short break, where we admired the scenery,
noticing that the water was actually bubbling in the
crater of the still-active volcano, and taking lots of
photos, we headed back down.

All the way up, I followed a well-traveled path. I stuck
to the zig-zag trail most of the way back down too.

However, I did stop once, and noticing that if I got
off the trail for a while, I could probably save
50 yards, by going more direct.

That’s when life taught me that often it’s better
to follow the well-blazed trail than to think that you
are smarter than tens of thousands of others who could
follow simple, proven instructions.

Almost as soon as I stepped outside the carved pathway,
I could sense that the hill was a lot steeper. In fact,
it was so steep, that I soon began to slide down the side
of the mountain. I dropped to the ground where I
continued to roll until… luckily I arrived back on the
trail.

Getting up, dusting off my torn clothing, and noticing
only a few scrapes and bruises, I waited for my friends
to catch up with me, then smiled sheepishly, and stuck
to the trail the rest of the way down

Online today, I see many people who want to start
businesses, also think that they are smarter that all
of the successful people who have gone before them.

They observe the others successfully navigating the
trail, and earning a decent income, but reason that
there must be a faster, less meticulous way.

Those people try shortcut-after-shortcut, sometimes

A Snapshot Of My Joint Venture Broker Training
And Certification

Since 2004, I have earned a major portion of my online
income from brokering joint ventures. What I basically
do is go out and recruit, and motivate affiliates for
other people’s product launches.

I also use my 16 years of internet marketing experience
to review EVERYTHING about the product that I’m helping
to launch including the product itself, the entire
sales funnel, etc.

So, my JV brokering also equates to a consultation. I
do offer regular consultations, on an hourly, monthly
and annual (retainer) basis. You can read a little

Before I take on clients as a JV broker, for consultation,
or as a student, I put them through a mini-interview.

That’s because I absolutely insist upon only working with
people that I like and resonate with. Life is too short to
get stuck working with people (or on projects) that you
don’t really care for.

I work as a joint venture broker from my cell phone and
laptop as I travel the world, take several exotic cruises
a year, and enjoying life. For example, this year, I
will take trips to Australia, Hawaii, the UK, Thailand,
and The Philippines (two trips to the Philippines).

I can afford this lifestyle because, as a joint venture
broker, I get paid 10% of the gross revenue generated
by all of the affiliates that I recruit for my clients. I
don’t typically take on projects that I think will make
less than $500,000 in sales, and I focus on projects that
will make several million in sales. So that 10% adds up.

At the same time, I choose to only take on a few projects
per year… based upon how much I want to work.

The reason that a joint venture broker gets paid so
handsomely is that it’s generally a lot easier to create
a product, and sales process, than it is to get large list
owners to promote your product. The large list owners and
centers-of-influence often get approached DOZENS of times
per month requesting that they promote products.

My training teaches you how to identify, contact, and
convince these large list owners, and centers-of-influence
to agree to and then actually PROMOTE your clients products.

I put my students through 60 hours of recorded training
(videos from live training workshops that I’ve taught and
audio from tele-classes that I’ve taught). After the 60
hours of recorded training, then you are ready to begin a
full YEAR of hands-on training.

For the next year, I work hand-in-hand with the apprentice
joint venture broker as you help clients to flow out and
then carry out product launches.

I work with you on as many projects as you do in that year,
but YOU do the work, I don’t. If I’m going to do all of the
work, then I would simply be the joint venture broker for
the launch myself.

In my 16 years as an internet marketer, I’ve seen many more
product launches fail, or succeed only marginally, than I
have seen achieve major success. Most internet marketing
gurus don’t talk about their failures that often, but I’m
friends with most of the old-timers, and we talk about what
has and hasn’t worked among ourselves.

Entrepreneurs who create and launch their own products are
risk-takers by nature, and they don’t realistically expect
everything that they do to succeed massively. Entrepreneurs
realize that you have singles, home-runs, and that sometimes
you strike out. Entrepreneurs earn more than the average
person because they are crazy enough to take the necessary,
calculated risks!

I’ve had behind-the scenes looks at literally hundreds of
product launches. I’ve gone through all of the major
(and many minor) courses on product launches and brokering
joint ventures (deal making) and as a result am a
storehouse of practical knowledge.

I’m trained as a classroom instructor, and in my military
background, I trained as an instructor in a life-and-death
environment. I trained students to navigate aircraft and
do airdrops in an environment where a mistake could
literally kill many people… including the young
paratroopers that I’ve air-dropped tens of thousands of.

As a result of my experience, I understand transferring
practical skills to a student, and stepping them through
handling the stresses of “the heat of battle!” Make no
mistake about it, when you are orchestrating a multi-
million dollar (or even $300,000) product launch, and
you are in the middle of the launch, and things are not
going as anticipated, it’s as stressful as any battle that
I’ve seen.

Soldiers plan things in excruciating detail, knowing that
every plan changes, often drastically, in the heat of
battle, and that there is a reason that they call it “the
fog of war.”

I step my clients through this process, and often things
go exactly as planned, but somethings we encounter
unexpected circumstances.

I work hand-in-hand with my students, as they step their
clients through this process.

The ability to engineer or facilitate a successful product
launch is one that people don’t mind paying 10% (or more)
for. They understand that if their launch fails, 100% of
nothing in NOTHING. Many product owners also understand
the concept of a 2-tier affiliate program, so they also
view your JV broker’s fee as akin to a 2nd-tier commission,
but as a broker, you can also often negotiate an additional
upfront fee. That extra fee is akin to a consultation fee.

pay me $50,000 per year largely to be able to call me up
from time to time (or meet with me face-to-face when they
travel to where ever I am at).

Those who don’t anticipate needing my services for a year
can call me from time to time to discuss projects for $5000
per month. I charge $3000 to review an ebook or piece of
software… and offer feedback on it’s feasibility during
a product launch.

My apprentice joint venture brokers pay me a mere $10,000
for me to transfer my 16 years of internet marketing and
product launch knowledge to them. I transfer that knowledge
the same way that I do to students that I instruct in the
martial arts. I assess where they are, and I move them as
fast as they prove to me that they are ready for. To move
you faster than you are really ready for only does you a
disservice.

I’ve studied, and taught the martial arts for over 30 years,
so I understand conveying knowledge and skill in a practical
manner. I have taken clumsy, fragile kids, and turned them
into amazing, confident, skilled individuals. That’s also
what I do with apprentice joint venture brokers.

I am totally dedicated to your success, should you desire
to become an apprentice, but that also means that I don’t
want to accept you as a student unless you are really,
really serious.

When I first started karate, my instructor had only 5 regular
students. It was at NC State University, and unless I’m
mistaken, I was his only student who was not a graduate
student or professor.

He had one of these students show me ONE “kata,” and then
he required me to practice it for a month before deciding
if I really wanted to join the dojo. After the month, when
he could see that I would be committed to the grueling 4-hour
once-a-week group workouts, plus daily practice on my own, he
accepted me. I’m still his student 33 years later… still
VERY teachable.

I’ve raised the bar as high for apprentice joint venture
brokers because when a product owner comes to you, they
quite literally are trusting you with the success or
failure of their businesses. I won’t put my seal of
approval on anyone who isn’t totally committed to
taking care of those clients… putting the client’s best
interest first.

For the student unable, or unwilling to pay the $10,000
upfront, I offer then the option of paying $997 per month,
for a year. In both cases, my recorded training, and much
of my one-on-one training, and resources (such as example
contracts, swipe files, case-studies) is offered via a
membership site.

After the full year, students who wish to continue under
my guidance, still pay a negotiable monthly fee. At that
point, they will be black-belt joint venture brokers, but
as any experienced martial artist will tell you, reaching
the black-belt level means that you’ve only demonstrated
that you have what it takes for a lifetime of continuing
to learn and hone your skills.

So there you have a snapshot of my training. In-case
you didn’t do the math, with my training, just one $300k
joint venture, properly brokered, will earn you $30k. A
$2 million product launch pays you $200,000. As I’m sure
that you can imagine, it DOES take a lot of skill to be
worth that much to a product owner.

People happily pay me that much for brokering joint
ventures, and I get approached to broker many times more
product launches than it is reasonable for me to even
consider taking on. When I say no, I’m often asked to
recommend someone else. I often recommend one of my
apprentices.

My training and certification does also include handing
you a number of pre-screened joint ventures for you to
broker during the year. After the year is over, I’ll
continue referring projects to you because I will know
beyond a shadow of a doubt that you are capable of taking
exceptional care of the client.

In the long-term, everything changes anyway, so I see no
reason not to share with you ALL of the facts that you
need to make fully-informed decision while building your

Diary – $100k In January 2012 – January 22nd, 2012

Welcome to Day 20… the day that I arrived home and got to
play with my impatient new grandchild for the first time
(she was born six weeks early)

This issue is heavily-influenced by feedback that I’m
getting from you guys… especially your wanting to
see more RESULTS!

Up to this point, most of my efforts have been laying the
groundwork for those results… for reasons that I’ll explain
today!

On the airplane on the way home, I actually flowed
out 23 articles in notepad on my iPhone. My wife
would occasionally glance over at my phone, notice the
smile on my face, and ask what I was doing.

After being home for about two hours, and playing
with the baby most of that time, I felt the time
pressures, and started turning those notes into articles.

Here’s the first one that I published:

Pretend Internet Marketing Experts, Dreamers, And Doers

In internet marketing (the niche that I know best)
as well as many other online niches, it’s often
difficult to tell who the genuine experts are.

That’s important because it makes it difficult to know
who to take advice from.

The danger is that you will spend months, or even years,
following the advice of someone who either sells you
his theory, or who just makes up something that sounds
plausible, and doesn’t even care if it’s accurate… as
long as it sells.

Yes, there ARE people who will sell you anything and
don’t care if it works, but I very strongly believe
that they are a tiny minority.

There are also those who believe that you will not
buy their products unless they “fake it until you
make it.” Many of these people may actually have
really good intentions, but since they believe that
they have to pretend to be something that they are
not, they can be a real threat to your success.

The fake it till you make it types often blur the
lines as to what they are actually qualified to teach
you. Their perceived dilemma is that they feel that
they HAVE TO fake it.

Several years ago, in an interview, I asked my friend
and mentor, Rich Schefren, how one overcomes this.
Rich explained that it’s as simple as being your authentic
self. Identify what you ARE qualified to teach, identify
the audience that does want to learn that, and sell to
them.

Rich’s advice really boiled down to merely acknowledging
that your potential audience members are at all different
levels along the learning curve, and you just need to focus
on the ones who need the level of guidance that you are
genuinely qualified to deliver.

The next pretend expert that you need to be aware of
is “the dreamer” who understand on a certain level but
have never DONE anything and therefore isn’t 100%
certain that what they offer to teach you WORKS. They’ve
STUDIED a lot, but they haven’t physically verified
what they believe to be true.

These are you armchair quarterbacks, your armchair
copywriters, and your armchair marketing experts.

I honestly think that many of the armchair experts
are most dangerous to themselves. I’ve encountered
dozens of them over the years who had studied the same
materials that I had, and knew it well enough that they
frequently quoted the same people that I did… and
often even finished my sentences when I tried explaining
something to them.

I say that they were a danger to themselves, because
they never moved beyond the knowing stage into the
implementation stage, so they could never earn a living
even though they understood how! I honestly believe that
they were afraid to actually do something, or they were
dabbling in too many different things to take any one
thing through to completion.

Either way, these are the experts who, based upon being
old-timers who have put in the time learning, should be
very successful. Yet, they are STUCK at just knowing and
won’t acknowledge that they MUST move beyond that.

Then you have the newbie who listens, learns and applies.
Some of them move up the ladder very rapidly, and are at
the top of the “expert ladder” in 1/10th of the time that
others take, and they ARE genuine experts.

Two quick examples of these “doers” are Russell Brunson
and Ryan Deiss.

I remember when Russell was a college student, wrestling,
and then starting to raise a family. He was on the
Warrior Forum, aggressively learning, testing, and DOING.
Not that much later, I could see that Russell had hit
six-figures, and then seven-figures.

I first notice Ryan Deiss in December 2002, when he was
an attendee at the very first seminar that ever attended
(and spoke at). I don’t believe that he was even 20 years
old yet, and he sat there taking and organizing copious
notes. He asked deep, relevant questions.

Ryan has now probably surpassed most of my fellow
speakers who graced the stage during that era. Ryan now
has other very successful guru’s working for his
companies

I’m compelled to warn my readers to be aware of the pretend
experts and dreamers, but I’m equally as compelled to point
out what sets the doers apart!

The “snakes in the grass” will always exist, and part of the
reason that they will even thrive is because of customer
greed. Greed causes people to make very poor choices.

FEAR also causes people to make poor decisions, and I
believe that is what keeps more people who have the
knowledge from becoming doers!

To become one of the successful doers, you have to actually,
REALLY believe that it is possible. Then you have to
believe that it is possible for you.

For me personally, I grew to believe that it was possible,
after spending a lot of time hanging around with, and even
masterminding with, others who actually walked-the-walk.

I grew to believe that it was possible for me after
observing that many of the ULTRA successful people that I
hung around were really quite ordinary in most respects.
I would even dare say that some were of below average
intelligence… and I even know that they would say this
about themselves.

The differences are:

1) You have to give yourself permission to actually become
successful.

2) You need to work on your mindset, because “going big” is
largely mental. Once you have the correct mindset, then it
JUST HAPPENS.

I know this to be true because that has been my experience.
I grew up on government subsistence (welfare) surrounded by
poverty and no real mega-successful role models. I did have
several teachers who lovingly challenged and inspired me.

I had my big breakthrough after hanging around the ultra
successful, and being bathed in their mindset.

They also taught me that the rich and ultra-successful were
not necessarily “evil”

That “flow” started me and many of my friends along a path
that made success destined to happen. It also programmed us
to always be successful even if we occasionally suffer
setbacks… because we now understand the path and have that
essential mindset.

The final ingredient for me was being actually mentored by
an individual who showed me how I was really the ONLY
person who could hold me back, and then how to get out of my
way and allow unimagined success to flow into my life.

Notice that that article is fairly emotionally charged. It’s
very difficult for a person to read the article and not feel
motivated to take some action, even if it’s to fire off an
email to me telling me that they disagree.

I could sense shortly after publishing the article that it
did indeed “piss off” many readers. It had that effect
because it no longer allowed them to blame others for the
results that they’ve gotten in life thus far. Most of the
world tells you that it’s not your fault because they know
that’s what you want to hear. I was deliberately using a
little “tough love!”

People respond to this type of article, they comment on it,
and they share it with others, so this is the type of article
that I will be publishing a LOT of over the next 10 days or
so.

That article is engineered to generate an emotional
under-current that people HAVE to respond to!

I published that article to a tiny list of about 7000 general
internet marketers whom I also felt would “get” that “mindset”
is a major part of the game. It’s what allows you to actually
follow-through with doing the other things that you need to
do in order to have extra-ordinary success.

Developing that mindset and following through DOES often
mean doing things that you are slightly uncomfortable with.
I shared with you earlier that even I have to do that. I
also shared with you my zip lining experience, where I
actually FORCED myself to REPEATELY step off the edge of cliffs,
attached to tiny cables that I didn’t really have that
much faith in. My point was NOT that I was on an exotic
Caribbean cruise, but that I purposely FORCED myself to do
something that I didn’t really want to do, but knew that it
would force me to grow in the direction that I wanted to
move.

In case you missed it, the tactic that I used to keep me
from backing out was to publicly state on my Facebook profile
(and to my wife) that I was going to do something that I
feared. I turned them all into powerful accountability
partners… and it worked!

That article is designed to make people really examine their
online marketing (somewhat bridging the gap between internet
marketing and personal development).

I AM at a tremendous disadvantage in the Personal Development
Niche, and since I’m not known there, needed to create a logical
bridge that people might be willing to step across.

When I’m reading an article, the first question that I
personally ask myself is “What makes this person qualified
to write this article?” I want to know “What makes them an
expert!” If we fail to answer that question in our own
articles, we lose the reader and your article will be largely
a waste of time.

My over-arching goal is… hopefully to get lots of people
re-posting the article, and it’s primary purpose is of course
to get people to check out the Level 5 Mentoring program… where
I’ll earn a commission when people actually benefit from the
free webinar, and because they do benefit, they want the paid
product that goes deeper.

Since the article covers an emotionally charged topic, and I
used the title as my email subject line, I do expect a very
high number of readers.

I will also submit that article to EzineArticles.com and to
IdeaMarketers.com, and will also bookmark it using the tools
that I mentioned to you yesterday.

I’ll share it in the other places already mentioned.

I can see this ONE article generating thousands of visitors
WHEN it goes viral, or gets a lot of commentary from the
right people.

I would also like to explain at this point WHY I
chose personal development or self-help as a niche
to focus on.

First of all, I’m not known AT ALL in the personal
development niche, so I feel that this is a great
test of my methods. I AM starting at the SAME point
that a newbie would be starting at… one of getting
people who don’t know me as an expert in that space,
to listen to me.

Given that people buy from people that they know,
like and trust, that means that I have to figure
out how to get potential customers in that niche to
know, like, and trust me.

Anyone in this situation has two choices… you
can either develop the know-like-and-trust factor,
or you can borrow it.

I chose to do both!

First, I chose to develop it by pushing out a TON
of content that rapidly proves my actual expertise
in this area. Given that I am a newbie in the niche,
that proof has to show that I not only understand
the theory, but that I actually LIVE the principles.

PROVING that I understand and have actually harnessed
the principles is why my writing focuses so much on
my lifestyle. That proves that I live what I’m
teaching day-to-day and as a result, I gain the
benefit… implying if you copy my application of the
principles exactly, then you’ll get the same results.

My readers need to see that I get above-average results
from my applying certain principles. I need to
unequivocally PROVE that.

Given that most authors, in most niches online, generate
little more than a lot of theory, IF I show practical
examples of the application of what I cover, then I can
quickly go from an unknown in the niche to a
much-respected authority

That’s what you need to do too.

YOU, as a subscriber, even have to see my doing that or
you quickly tune out, and don’t stick around long enough
to see how massively effective what I’m doing really
can be.

The second way to get that know-like-and-trust factor,
is to borrow it. That’s where solo ads come in. In placing
solo ads, I’m approaching list owners who already have that
relationship with their list and asking them for a direct or
indirect endorsement.

I also shared with you in an earlier lesson that I’m
actually reaching out to a few friends and asking them
to share my content-rich Facebook posts and events with
their followers.

I’m merely sending them private messages, asking them to
please share a post or Event.

I’m only asking them to do that with content that I feel
that their “Friends” will enjoy or appreciate.

I submit that we ALL have a few close friends that we
can ask a favor of, but also admit that asking favors
of even close friends can feel uncomfortable.

If you want extra-ordinary results you DO have to force
yourself to do things that people willing to live with
ordinary results simply won’t do. I can do that because
I honesty feel that my content is changing lives.

So, I am borrowing credibility. You need to do the
same thing!

You do have friends. They ARE willing to give you a
break especially IF they expect you at some point in
the future to reciprocate.

How well is this working for me?

In the Self-Help Giveaway that I’m using as a case-study,
I’ve moved from not even being in the top 20 (based on
over-all referrals), to where I expect to be in the top 5
VERY soon, and then to fight my way into the top three,
where I WILL earn a free solo mailing in my new niche…
with the #1 position offering that solo mailing to 250,000.

You may feel that you DON’T need a “pep talk” but I hope
that you do see that it’s worth the monumental effort, and
that after you make that initial monumental effort, that
the rest can simply fall in place.

I entered a new niche, made a monumental effort doing
things that I feel slightly uncomfortable with, and after
30 days, I should actually have made over $100k, largely
from soft-selling a product in my new niche, and from
leveraging the credentials of others who are long
established in that space.

I am going up against GIANTS in that space, and because
I am willing to do more, I will prevail, but I will be
doing things that you CAN do too.

My focus the rest of the journey is on buying solo ads
(buying endorsements), but even there, I’m largely
spending money earned from other efforts that I shared
with you in previous lessons.

I have arranged 32 solo ads that will start running as
early as today. For each of those ads, I am using a
unique tracking url, so that I know where my results
came from, and I will share that with you (unless I
was specifically prohibited by the ad seller for some
strange reason).

In the last lesson, I showed you how to set-up for this
solo ad barrage with as little as $25… but that… starting
with that little meant that it would take a few days longer.

Now, thanks to your patience as I laid the framework,
you’ll get to watch it all unfold, and even be able to
use my EXACT solo ad sources if you choose to, and if you
act fast. Of course, over 1200 others will be reading
these same notes, so if you are not fast, you may be in
for a bit of a wait.

Moving forward, I’m going to make the lessons less
verbose, since hopefully by this time, you’ve gotten
the mindset part.

I will add that this IS all an inexact science. There is
a lot of testing and tracking involved, and even the top
marketing experts have to admit that the outcomes are not
always exact.

In fact, in a recent discussion, a friend shared with me
a conversation that he had with a guy who has often
billed himself as “the godfather of internet marketing.”
He shared that this guy taught him that email marketing
is hit and miss. It’s a matter of market-to-message-to-
medium match.

Even at “the very top” this guy sends out mailing some
days that produce a mere trickle of orders, and other
days he hits on just the right combination, and hundreds
of orders flood in.

He tries to be scientific about it but has discovered that
if he keeps making little tweaks, and keeps mailing, that
in the long run, he has a lot of home-runs but even more
singles

In that market-to-message match, I believe that the most
critical ingredient is the words that you use to connect
with your audience one-to-one, and that no one has an
advantage over you in that arena, because it’s an actual
bond/connection “felt” between two individuals.

This morning, my son-in-law dropped Nancy and myself
off at the airport at 4:30am for a 5:30 flight to
Ft. Lauderdale, where we embark on the Marketers Cruise
tomorrow.

As we were sitting in the waiting area, getting ready
to board our plane, our youngest daughter, the one whose
husband had dropped us off, called my wife to share that
she was having contractions fairly close together.

She was expecting her second child in about 3 weeks.

We boarded the plane and my wife anxiously called back,
to discover the our daughter was now at the hospital.

Fast-forward to 4 hours from when we took off from the
airport, we are finally in Ft. Lauderdale, where the
cruise ship will depart from tomorrow, and my daughter
has called to say that we have a new granddaughter.

By the time that we get checked into our hotel, she has
already posted photos on Facebook… some of which I
snagged, and posted here:

This child was born into a world VERY different from the one
that I was born into almost 53 years ago. Technology and
information are multiplying so fast that I can’t really
imagine what life will be like when she is a young adult.

I still marvel at what my new iPhone 4S can do

One thing that my granddaughter won’t really have to
worry about is money. Provided I don’t UN-inherit her,
she is already set to be a millionaire by the time
she is 21. I did one simple thing late last year for her
“older” brother (18 months old), and I’ll do something
similar for her, and when they turn 21, I can literally
hand each of them over $1 million.
