<p>When I first started internet marketing, back in 1996,<br />
I was taught to build a list, build relationships with<br />
list members, and then sell them solutions to their<br />
most-pressing problems.</p>
<p>That is an excellent business model if you actually<br />
take the time to do that, and use the proper tools so<br />
that the process doesn&#8217;t become overwhelming. </p>
<p>Most email marketers understand the process to be:</p>
<p>1) You set up an autoresponder.</p>
<p>2) You offer an ethical bribe (a gift) to get them to<br />
join your opt-in list.</p>
<p>3) You give them the gift and then follow-up via<br />
autoresponder with related information, tips, and<br />
product offers.</p>
<p>4) You post your opt-in form and offer in as many places<br />
as practical.</p>
<p>5) You sit back and collect your fortune, generating a<br />
flood of revenue any time that you want it with the mere<br />
push of a button (sending an email)!</p>
<p>MOST internet marketers discover that it&#8217;s not really<br />
that simple, when they notice that no one is responding<br />
to most of their emails. They&#8217;ve most-likely MISSED the<br />
part about actually building relationships, and providing<br />
genuine value to their readers.</p>
<p>Around 2002, when I attended my first internet marketing<br />
seminar (one that I spoke at), I learned all about joint<br />
ventures. I learned that if you work with, rather than<br />
competing against, others in your industry, everyone<br />
generally does better.</p>
<p>As I learned more and more about joint ventures, I<br />
gradually developed into a joint venture expert, and then<br />
eventually became a joint venture broker. As a JV broker,<br />
I not only made a lot more sales by working with others in<br />
my industry&#8230; I also got paid to orchestrate joint ventures<br />
for others who hadn&#8217;t completely mastered the craft.</p>
<p>Today, a major portion of my income is from coordinating<br />
joint ventures for my own projects/product launches, and<br />
for those of my clients.</p>
<p>The email marketing and the joint venture brokering<br />
became really, REALLY successful when I learned &#8220;the secret.&#8221;</p>
<p>That secret is, you actually need to focus on building fewer,<br />
deeper, real relationships!</p>
<p>You are actually (usually) much better off with a list of 1000<br />
subscribers who consistently look forward to, open, read, and<br />
respond to your emails than you are with a list of 100,000 who<br />
don&#8217;t.</p>
<p>As someone with numerous lists, in numerous niches, I have<br />
learned this lesson via &#8220;the school of hard knocks.&#8221;</p>
<p>I&#8217;m not advocating that you stop growing your list. I AM<br />
advocating that you actually get to know WHO your list<br />
members  are.  Get to know what their biggest  concerns are,<br />
and what they really expect from the  relationship with you<br />
(as a subscriber).</p>
<p>The easiest way to do this is to set very specific expectations<br />
when inviting them onto your list, so that you and your<br />
subscribers understand the relationship right from the very<br />
start.</p>
<p>Later on, if you find that your list has grown unfocused,<br />
and unresponsive, you probably want to conduct a survey<br />
to find out why.  You can use many tools to do that survey,<br />
and my preferred method is via an SMS text message<br />
survey.  The reason that I like that method is that it also lets<br />
me build out my database more completely.</p>
<p>You see, when most of your subscribers joined your list, they<br />
probably only gave you an email address, and a name. Many<br />
of them probably even gave you a set of initials, a made up<br />
name, or if the name field wasn&#8217;t required&#8230; no name at all.</p>
<p>When they first joined your list, they didn&#8217;t know or trust you.<br />
Now that they do, you should ask for more data so that you<br />
can better know WHO your customers are, and how you can<br />
best serve them.</p>
<p>By getting them to complete the SMS text message survey<br />
that I use, you now get them to give you their full name,<br />
email address, niche or interests, phone number, or any<br />
other data that you ask for.</p>
<p>You can build your survey any way that you want to, asking<br />
any question that you want, using the tool that I use<br />
called &#8220;Profile Builder.&#8221;  </p>
<p>You can see the system that I use to survey my subscribers,<br />
and actually take it for a test-drive if you simply send a text<br />
message to:  850-396-0016 (that IS my actual number).  Just<br />
make the subject “Hi Willie.” </p>
<p>I use this very same system to identify and actually get to<br />
know potential joint venture partners. </p>
<p>When you are planning a product launch, it&#8217;s very tempting<br />
to want to recruit as many jv partners (affiliates) as possible.</p>
<p>That is often just a lot of wasted time and effort. </p>
<p>With joint venture partners or affiliates, the 80/20 rule<br />
applies, just as it does with so many other things in life.<br />
Only 20% of those who agree to become your joint venture<br />
partners or affiliates are going to take action, and of  those,<br />
only 20% are going to produce significant results.</p>
<p>What I&#8217;ve discover, as someone who has professionally<br />
brokered joint ventures for others since 2004, is that the<br />
top 5% of your joint venture partners often produce<br />
30 &#8211; 50% of your total results.</p>
<p>I&#8217;ve also discovered that that top 5% will often be people<br />
that you actually KNOW. These will be people that you&#8217;ve<br />
taken the time to learn what really makes them tick. You<br />
know their hobbies/interests, favorite foods, favorite<br />
places, what causes they are really passionate about, what<br />
drives them to be in business in the first place!</p>
<p>I get to know people on this level by meeting them at live<br />
seminars and conferences.  There, I sit and talk to them<br />
face-to-face, and I make sure that I get all of their<br />
contact details.</p>
<p>After I get all of their contact details, I make sure that “I”<br />
follow up to continue building the relationship. You see,<br />
95% of people who attend live events, go home, toss the<br />
business cards that they collected into the back of a desk<br />
drawer, and go back to the life they had before the event.<br />
They never follow-up or take any action to continue building<br />
relationships with the nice people that they met and really<br />
liked&#8230; and honestly intended to continue building a<br />
relationship with.</p>
<p>I overcame that very natural tendency by automating parts of<br />
building real relationships. You see, what I now do is ask<br />
them to text me at my number 850-396-0016, and when they<br />
do, they are asked to give me their name, interests/niche,<br />
Skype ID, and any other information that I need to actually<br />
follow-up with them and build real, deeper relationships.</p>
<p>I have different information that I request when they text<br />
me using different &#8220;codewords.&#8221;</p>
<p>When they text me the requested data, it&#8217;s stored securely on<br />
my server in a database where I religiously download the data<br />
and add it to my appropriate relationship management system.</p>
<p>Often, I import the .csv file into my account at Send Out Cards,<br />
another relationship building tool that I have been using since<br />
2004.  Send Out Cards allows me to send real, physical greeting<br />
cards (and gifts) right over the internet. I use this system to<br />
periodically reach out to contacts AND to make sure that I never<br />
forget a birthday. The SOC system sends me a reminder of<br />
birthdays, anniversaries, etc.</p>

<p>On that site:</p>
<p>1) Click on the link labeled &#8220;Join Now&#8221;</p>
<p>2) Click on the link labeled &#8220;Preferred Customer&#8221;</p>
<p>3) Sign up for the $31 per month plan and that will<br />
allow you to send up to 50 greeting cards per month.<br />
Postage is extra&#8230; you pay the actual postage based<br />
upon where you live and if you choose to send gifts with<br />
a given card.</p>
<p>If you don&#8217;t feel that you will use that many cards, you<br />
can sign up for the $10 per month plan, but if you&#8217;re<br />
seriously building your business, you should be following<br />
up like crazy, and will use the $31 worth of cards each month.<br />
They  also rollover, so there is no hurry to use them.</p>
<p>If you study the greatest salesman in the world (according<br />
to the Guinness Book of World Records), Joe Girad, who sold<br />
more cars than anyone in history, I&#8217;ve  just shared his secret<br />
with you. Joe sent his customers greeting cards on a regular<br />
basis, showing them that he actually cared about them, and this<br />
turned them into VERY loyal customers.</p>
<p>It&#8217;s really very simple, you build real relationships by showing<br />
people that you actually want to get to know them, and that you<br />
care about them. </p>
<p>They sense that you really do care, and they like you in return,<br />
and when they need what you have to sell, it&#8217;s  natural for<br />
them to want to buy from a friend.</p>
<p>When you get ready to launch a product, it&#8217;s natural for them<br />
to want to help out a real friend that they also assume would<br />
do the same for them.</p>
<p>It&#8217;s simple isn&#8217;t it?</p>
<p>Using the system that I just showed you, it&#8217;s not only<br />
INCREDIBLY effective, it&#8217;s also very inexpensive. The SMS<br />
texting that I do costs me $1 per month for the dedicated phone<br />
line, and 1 penny per message sent or received.  The data sent<br />
to me via the SMS text messages are actually stored on my site<br />
via a WordPress plug-in that I use.</p>

<p>It&#8217;s not quite Christmas here in northwestern<br />
Florida, but the festivities have definitely<br />
started at my house <img src='http://williecrawford.com/blog2/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif' alt=':-)' class='wp-smiley' /> </p>
<p>I&#8217;ll end today with a midnight mass, and then<br />
tomorrow will spend time at my youngest daughter&#8217;s<br />
house, and at a party hosted by a friend of many,<br />
many years.</p>
<p>It will be a day of relaxing and catching up with<br />
dozens of old friends who, like me, focus mostly<br />
on the relationships&#8230; and very little on the<br />
presents. </p>
<p>Actually, their friendship is one of the greatest<br />
gifts  in my life!  So is the true friendship of the<br />
many people that I&#8217;ve met via the internet over the<br />
past 16 years.<br />
&#8212;-</p>
<p>I wanted to end this note by inviting you to meet<br />

which teaches many great marketing lessons.</p>
<p><strong>Let me share the actual email</strong> with you, then I&#8217;ll<br />
share the lessons.</p>

<p><strong>Now the lessons:<br />
</strong><br />
1) I noticed the email first because the &#8220;From&#8221; field<br />
contained a trusted friend&#8217;s name.</p>
<p>2) The &#8220;Subject&#8221; line promising a great photo nudged<br />
me further to open it.   Hint: A promise of new<br />
photos of kids or pets works beautifully.</p>
<p>3) It made me smile, causing me to want to pass<br />
it on.  </p>
<p>You see, Mark is an expert marketer who totally<br />
gets great copywriting, human psychology, and<br />
building great relationships.</p>
<p>That also gave me a segue to share with you how I<br />
expect to sell THOUSANDS of copies of my simple<br />
soul food cookbook in the next 3 weeks, and how<br />
you can do the same with a similarly appropriate<br />
product.</p>
<p>In fact, I have absolutely no doubt that each of<br />
the next three weeks will be six-figure weeks <img src='http://williecrawford.com/blog2/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif' alt=':-)' class='wp-smiley' /> </p>
<p>I wrote my cookbook back in 2000, and it has<br />
been a steady seller ever since. That proves that<br />
you don&#8217;t need a breakthrough new product to do<br />
well selling things online.</p>
<p>You DO need a product that lots of people want,<br />
and you need a way to let them know about it, and<br />
you need to be able to communicate with them<br />
effectively.</p>
<p>I probably learned some of the things I understand<br />
on each of those aspect directly from watching<br />
Mark over the years.</p>
<p>At the same time, I do watch what is working best<br />
in my marketing very closely, and I notice changes.</p>
<p>One of the things that has changed the most in<br />
the past year is that far more people are now<br />
accessing the web via mobile devices (iPhones,<br />
iPads, Androids, tablets, etc) than are accessing<br />
the internet via regular computers.</p>
<p>I&#8217;ve seen statistics telling me that five times<br />
as many people access the internet via their<br />
mobile devices as do with a computer. </p>
<p>Those same people do BUY right over their mobile<br />
devices&#8230; a lot of them <img src='http://williecrawford.com/blog2/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif' alt=':-)' class='wp-smiley' /> </p>
<p>That told me that my customers for my cookbook are<br />
MOSTLY not on computers, and that if I don&#8217;t reach<br />
out to them, then I&#8217;m PREVENTING 85% of my potential<br />
sales.</p>
<p>Since I know that most of my competitors are facing<br />
the same problem, it also showed me an EASY way to<br />
gain a competitive advantage.</p>
<p>I simply had a mobile app developed that let people<br />
access my website (and buy my products) right over<br />
their mobile devices.</p>
<p>I had apps developed for the iPhone, iPad, Android,<br />
and HTML5 compatible devices. That lets people on<br />
practically ANY smart device access and interact<br />
with my website without ever going online.</p>
<p>Now, millions of people can pull up my website while<br />
in the kitchen and look up a recipe, or request one<br />
from others who have my apps installed, or read<br />
my latest blog posts, or watch a cooking video<br />
posted on my YouTube channel, or visit Facebook,<br />
Twitter, and numerous other places right from online.</p>
<p>This all sounds high tech, but it cost me less than<br />
$500 to open the door to hundreds of millions of<br />
potential users.   </p>
<p>Another HUGE benefit of my apps is the ability to<br />
send &#8220;push notifications.&#8221;  I can, at any time, log<br />
into a control panel, compose a short message, and<br />
send it to EVERYONE who has my apps installed.  In<br />
seconds, MILLIONS of people could potentially be<br />
getting a popup message on their phones (one that<br />
almost 100% of people can&#8217;t resist responding to).</p>
<p>Naturally, I don&#8217;t want to abuse that functionality,<br />
or people will just uninstall the app. However, it<br />
does let me send appropriate, very effective<br />
messages to my ideal customers at will.</p>
<p>Those messages get delivered, and then get read!</p>

is about a decade ahead of the rest of the internet<br />
when it comes to traffic generation&#8230; but that&#8217;s<br />

<p>Lately, I&#8217;ve noticed a lot of people on discussion forums<br />
asking HOW they can generate some quick cash.  They are<br />
usually in a bind, and need the dough FAST.</p>
<p>On some forums, we see this question asked so often that<br />
the moderators set up one SUPER thread where people are<br />
encouraged to answer that question.</p>
<p>Answers range from &#8220;sell a service that you can perform,&#8221;<br />
to &#8220;offer some of your unneeded stuff on Ebay,&#8221; to &#8220;create<br />
a quick product, and launch it via a Warrior Special<br />
Offer or other method.&#8221;</p>
<p>I&#8217;m personally a big fan of the last method as I&#8217;m a<br />
prolific product creator. I also like the idea of a<br />
Warrior Special Offer because you don&#8217;t need to have a<br />
large list, or even a lot of name recognition.</p>
<p>To have a winning Warrior Special Offer, the biggest thing<br />
that you need is a product offering a great solution to a<br />
pressing problem that a lot of Warriors care about&#8230;<br />
and you need to offer it dirt cheap <img src='http://williecrawford.com/blog2/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif' alt=':-)' class='wp-smiley' /> </p>
<p>My last WSO was for a recording on how I built a list of<br />
over 1 million subscribers and am working on my second<br />
million.</p>
<p>Since every webmaster in the word wants traffic, and a list<br />
equals easy repeat traffic, that WSO is a real no-brainer&#8230;<br />
and a hit. That WSO had just over 14,000 views when I last<br />
checked <img src='http://williecrawford.com/blog2/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif' alt=':-)' class='wp-smiley' /> </p>

<p>Realizing that not everyone is as proficient at product<br />
creation as I am&#8230;. if I needed some quick revenue, one of<br />
the fastest, easiest ways that I&#8217;ve discovered to do it is<br />
to offer private label rights to hot products.</p>

<p>That&#8217;s a package that I personally paid $9.97 for, and it<br />
gave me the rights to do ANYTHING that I wanted with 89<br />
private label rights ebook products.</p>
<p>Yes, 89 products, with private label rights for under $10.  It<br />
was an easy decision for me to decide to buy it <img src='http://williecrawford.com/blog2/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif' alt=':-)' class='wp-smiley' />  </p>
<p>The most obvious and easiest thing to do was to turn around<br />
and resell the package as-is&#8230; which I did. The URL above<br />
shows how I set that up.</p>
<p>Rather than testing different prices&#8230; or anything, I<br />
acknowledged that the basic page, as-is, sold ME. Therefore,<br />
others like me would find the offer attractive. </p>
<p>So, I merely inserted my order link, and also changed one of<br />
the bonuses to point to one of my pet projects (instruction<br />
on how to get published on Amazon Kindle). That bonus struck<br />
me as more appropriate than the one in the original package.</p>
<p>I offered this to a small segment of my email list and the<br />
orders came flooding in within minutes. </p>
<p>An INSANE number of orders came flooding in within an hour <img src='http://williecrawford.com/blog2/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif' alt=':-)' class='wp-smiley' /> </p>
<p>Then, I wondered what I would do if I didn&#8217;t have a list? </p>
<p>My answer is that I would promote via social media, and by<br />
using articles  So, I posted to my Facebook wall, and<br />
scheduled several tweets. I also posted on Sokule.  All three<br />
of these efforts produced IMMEDIATE orders.  In fact, my<br />
order from just the social media posts were over $300 in the<br />
first 2 hours <img src='http://williecrawford.com/blog2/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif' alt=':-)' class='wp-smiley' /> </p>
<p>Why did this work so effectively for me?</p>
<p>1) I understand article marketing. I&#8217;ve written over 2400<br />
articles over the past 10 or so years, and I just know what<br />
works.</p>
<p>What works in article marketing is to have a benefit-filled<br />
title, discuss a pressing problem (offering a proven solution)<br />
and then telling your readers how to tap into that solution.</p>
<p>If you don&#8217;t understand article marketing, check out &#8220;Article<br />
Marketing Soldiers&#8221; by fellow retired major Tim Gorman. You&#8217;ll<br />

<p>Tim gives you an excellent blueprint that shows that article<br />
marketing is DEFINITELY not dead. He taught me a thing<br />
or two about a topic that I thought I had already mastered!</p>
<p>2) I offered a product that I was 95% sure that the market<br />
would go crazy over. </p>
<p>How did I know that the market would love this private label<br />
rights product?   I knew that it would because I DID.  I&#8217;m<br />
not even the ideal customer that the product is aimed at,<br />
and I went crazy over it.</p>
<p>The product is 89 ebooks with unrestricted private label rights.<br />
To me, that meant that I had 89 rough drafts that I could VERY<br />
easily revise/edit, rename, have new ecovers created for, and<br />
roll out as my own original products.</p>
<p>YES, unrestricted private label rights also meant that I could<br />
roll those products out as-is, just putting my name on them and<br />
I&#8217;d make sales from that, but that&#8217;s not what I do, and it&#8217;s not<br />
what I teach you to do.</p>
<p>If you get a nice PLR package like that, first of all feel free<br />
to just resell the entire thing like I did. </p>
<p>Don&#8217;t worry, there are hundreds of thousands of potential buyers,<br />
and 98% of them will do absolutely nothing with the package after<br />
they download it.  So, you don&#8217;t have to worry about &#8220;market<br />
saturation.&#8221;  </p>
<p>If you just blog about it, you should be able to generate dozens<br />
of sales&#8230; but most people won&#8217;t even do that.</p>
<p>As the title indicated, I took that $9.97 product and turned it<br />
into several hundred dollars right away, and it has already<br />
surpassed $1000 <img src='http://williecrawford.com/blog2/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif' alt=':-)' class='wp-smiley' /> </p>
<p>I could have easily marked that pack up to $27 &#8211; $47, and<br />
offered it to a more appropriate audience, and made lots of<br />
sales.   I guess I was being slightly lazy.</p>
<p>I DO plan on taking some of those titles, using them as rough<br />
drafts for my OWN new &#8220;original&#8221; ebooks, and I have absolutely<br />
no doubt that some of those  will earn me many thousands of<br />
dollars. </p>
<p>It really IS that easy.</p>
<p>I&#8217;m not as lazy as many internet marketer portray themselves&#8230;<br />
I did say that I was going to rework the PLR&#8230; but still 90%<br />
of the work or research has already been done for me.</p>
<p>Let me close with just one more lesson that I don&#8217;t want you to<br />
miss.</p>
<p>That lesson is that &#8220;money loves speed.&#8221;  You&#8217;ll notice that I<br />
didn&#8217;t buy that PLR package and &#8220;plan to release it soon.&#8221;</p>
<p>No, I bought it, uploaded the downloaded zip files to my server,<br />
created a buy now button in Paypal, edited the sales page and<br />
download page (linking to the zip files on my server), and had<br />
the product up for sale within ONE HOUR of purchasing it!</p>
<p>I also had recouped my $9.97 within 10 minutes of sending the<br />
page live.  You gotta love Twitter and Facebook <img src='http://williecrawford.com/blog2/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif' alt=':-)' class='wp-smiley' /> </p>
<p>Anyway, that&#8217;s how I do it, time-after-time, and you can too.</p>

<p>Here then are 10 tips for using social media to drive traffic to<br />
your sites…</p>
<p>1. Complete your profile.</p>
<p>When you first open your Twitter, Facebook, Squidoo or other<br />
social media site account, fill out your profile (including a<br />
picture). Doing so makes it easier for people to get to know you<br />
and build relationships with you, which will make it more likely<br />
they’ll click through to your site.</p>
<p>2. Interact. </p>
<p>Social sites are, by definition, social. They’re two way streets<br />
(not monologues). That’s why you shouldn’t just post content and<br />
move on. Instead, spend a few minutes each day interacting and<br />
getting to know people in your network.</p>
<p>3. Include a link to your site on your profile page. </p>
<p>This tip is simple but effective: Give people a reason to click<br />
through from the social media site to your blog or squeeze page.<br />
A promise of a free solution usually makes for a good enticement.</p>
<p>4. Ask your followers to “retweet” and repost.</p>
<p>If you create a “buzzworthy” post (such as a post on a hot or<br />
even controversial niche topic), as your Twitter followers to<br />
“retweet” it and ask your other social media networks to repost<br />
it.</p>
<p>5. Spend time each day growing your network.</p>
<p>Commit to spending at least 10 minutes each day growing your<br />
network. You’ll see big results by the end of the month. And<br />
you’ll be amazed at the size of your network in six months or a<br />
year from now.</p>
<p>6. Link your social site pages together.</p>
<p>Link your Twitter account to your Facebook, MySpace, Squidoo,<br />
HubPages and other social media pages. And vice versa.</p>
<p>7. Use your real name so that you’re easy to find.</p>
<p>People who want to do business with you won’t respond well to<br />
working with “BaseballBoy72.” Instead, build trust by using your<br />
real name. Doing so also makes it easier for others to find you<br />
on Facebook and similar sites.</p>
<p>8. Post good content.</p>
<p>Social media is not just about networking, it’s also about<br />
sharing information. If you share some of your best information<br />
with your network, you’ll get respect, trust… and more sales.<br />
Plus you’ll establish yourself as a niche expert.</p>
<p>9. Optimize some of your content.</p>
<p>Some social sites (such as Yahoo! Answers and Squidoo) get<br />
crawled and indexed regularly by the search engines. As such, you<br />
may consider optimizing some of your content for the search<br />
engines by including relevant (longtail) keywords two or three<br />
times for every 100 words of content.</p>
<p>10. Get the most benefit for your time.</p>
<p>Instead of trying to interact and build relationships with<br />
thousands of prospects, consider building a relationship with a<br />
handful of partners. That’s because just one good partner can<br />
send you hundreds or thousands of prospects and customers.</p>
