Me Babysitting This Past Sunday

Wednesday, August 18th, 2010. Posted in Off Topic | No Comments »

Last Sunday  my daughter dropped by.  She handed
the grand baby to my wife and I, then she crashed
on our couch for 5 hours.
I got to spoil him, but he just slept 90% of the
time
The only real problem was that our air conditioner
had just gone out.  The repair guy didn’t make it
out until Monday, [...]

$5000 Trees :-)

Saturday, August 7th, 2010. Posted in Off Topic | No Comments »

Many of my neighbors have palm trees that cost
as much as $5000 each. Last winter we had one
hard freeze that killed off many of them, but
many others looked like they were dead but came
back out.
The trees are beautiful but don’t typically
bear any fruit. I don’t think that I’ll be
planting any any time soon. [...]

Dog Talk – Often Misinterpreted

Friday, August 6th, 2010. Posted in Copywriting, Hot Trusted Tip, Off Topic | No Comments »

Every day I go for a 3-5 mile walk. I often
pass dogs that growl at me… usually tiny
dogs.
Lately, I’ve approached these dogs, and to my
surprise discovered that many of them just
wanted to play. Their growls weren’t
aggression, but them saying “pay attention to me!”
I’ve noticed that internet marketing messages are
also often misunderstood. [...]

DON’T Subscribe To An Ezine Using An Autoresponder

Friday, August 6th, 2010. Posted in Off Topic, Time Management | No Comments »

When I first came online over a dozen years ago,
one of the “tricks” taught was to subscribe to an
ezine using an autoresponder email address.
I didn’t think that was a good idea back then, and
I think that it’s an even worse idea today.
People who do that to me are not only unsubscribred,
but since I [...]

Twitter Time Bandits

Thursday, August 5th, 2010. Posted in Off Topic, Time Management, Where's Willie? My Schedule :-) | No Comments »

I read an article by Dan Kennedy long ago
where he talks about “time bandits.” These
are people who will steal your time if you
let them.
Lately, I’ve notice time bandits on Twitter.
I recently tweeted about my time management
techniques on Twitter. Although I tweet a lot,
I’m not on Twitter a lot… maybe 20 minutes a
day!
When I [...]

Keeping The Sabbath Day Holy

Sunday, July 25th, 2010. Posted in Off Topic | No Comments »

When I was growing up stores did not open on Sunday,
with the exception of a few convenience stores that
generally only opened after 1pm (when church services
were generally over).
I grew up in North Carolina, deep in the Bible belt.
we had what were often referred to as “blue laws.”
Blue laws which have been part of U.S. [...]

The 1000 Jobs That I’ve Held – Part 1

Thursday, July 22nd, 2010. Posted in Off Topic, Recommended Reading | No Comments »

As I travel across the country, and around
the world, I often observe that many “children”
in their 20’s still live with their parents,
and have no jobs. I reflect upon the fact that
I had my first job when I was 7, and had no
real care-free childhood.
I’m not complaining of course. I took a lot
of pride [...]

All-Electric Homes In A Hurricane Zone

Wednesday, July 7th, 2010. Posted in Do This Today, Off Topic | No Comments »

On my 5-mile walk this morning, I noticed
that practically ALL of the homes under
construction in my neighborhood had “All
Electric Home” signs.
2-3 years ago, when my area was hit by an
incredible number of hurricanes, the storms
often knocked out the electrical power for
up to 2 weeks.
I have a generator, and several LARGE cans
of gas, so I could [...]

Are You Saved?

Sunday, July 4th, 2010. Posted in Off Topic | No Comments »

I get asked the strangest questions while out walking.
Today, I had a young lady ask me if I had a minute.
Thinking that she was a door-to-door salesperson, I
said “maybe.”
She asked if I was “saved.” Knowing what she meant,
and having a very strong relationship with my higher
power, I said “yes.”
She asked [...]

Independence Day And Being A Soldier

Back in 2003, I retired from the U.S. Air Force after
a 20-year/10-month career. I chose to retire in June
so that I WOULD be independent on July 4th. By that
time, I’d also been running an Internet business in
my spare time for 7 years… longer than many of today’s
guru’s have been online.
I’d also had enough fun… [...]
