where you do one or two promotions for a product and then

I don’t know about you, but I personally DISLIKE those
types of promotion for two reasons:

1) It means that as an affiliate marketers, even if I am
successful at selling my customers that products, I need
to look for something else to sell them a week later. The
big DISCONNECT there is that that means I can’t really
even give them time to benefit from what I just sold them
before I’m suggesting that they buy something else.

I honestly don’t think that’s fair to my subscribers who
would really benefit from that first product IF they would
just take the time to go through it and actually APPLY what
it teaches. I shouldn’t be distracting them from being able
to do that.

2) With many promotions that we do, our subscribers may
not even get around to reading an email, or being ready
to buy, until a week or more later. With the one-and-done
promotions, by the time they are ready to focus on the offer,
it’s too late.

So, we waste all that effort. Those are two reasons that
I’m focused on the product that Terry recommends. It’s
something that you can honestly promote today, and earn
commissions on a year or more later.

David actually “tags” your referrals in his database in a
way that you earn LIFETIME commissions… and you get credit
even if they delete their cookies because his affiliate
tracking system does not depend upon cookies.

Many scientist and historians point out that we humans
live in a very different world than our ancestors did,
and that we need to interact with it differently.

Throughout most of human history, the average person
didn’t live past the age of 30, and food was in short
supply for most people much of the time.

At the same time when we came upon, or produced, a large
supply of nutrient rich food, we only had fairly crude
ways of storing or preserving it.

That meant that we often were better off gorging ourselves
on the meats, honey, and other calorie rich foods that
we rarely got, any time that the opportunity presented
itself.

That also meant that it was to our advantage to be
genetically coded to STORE as many calories as practical
when food was plentiful, so that those calories would be
available when we couldn’t find food.

If you think of your genes as the computer coding that
tells you body how to carry out functions necessary for
life, then you can see that it is very similar to the
operating system on your computer. It runs in the
background, allowing you to do all kinds of magical
things without having to think about it too much.

That’s mostly a good thing, because when something
happens like you accidentally cutting yourself, you don’t
need to focus on telling your body how to stop the bleeding,
fight off infections, and heal that cut. It’s sort of
nice to have the happen with you being able to largely
forget about the cut as soon as the pain subsides.

Our emotions, thinking, and how we interact with each
other is also programmed into us.

Some of it, such as the desire to procreate, the fight
or flight response, a mistrust or fear of things out
of the ordinary… these things still often serve us
well. Indeed, we would probably die off as a species
without most of them.

However, just as Microsoft or Apple frequently updates
their computer operating systems to accommodate changes
in our broader world, we humans need to update our
operating systems.

This concept is actually one that I didn’t create but
adopted from several books that I’ve read, and that I’ll
share with you at another time.

Clearly, our body’s programming to store EVERY spare
calorie is working against us. In the U.S., I’ve seen
studies suggesting that as many as 2/3rds of us are
overweight.

We consider ourselves the most-intelligent creatures on
the planet, so certainly we can SEE what is happening,
see that we need to change “our programming,” and do
that.

Can’t we?

The answer is actually YES.

With the Human Genome Project, we mapped out all of our
genes and can even identify that portion of our genetic
code that triggers aging, starts or stops certain cells
from reproducing, and decide what to allow or block from
entering certain cells.

We can actually influence our genetic makeup enough to
even turn off our bodies tendency to store all of those
spare calories. When we do that, the entire obesity
problem simply goes away!

Before most of us can do anything that major, we need to
reprogram our thinking.

Most of us have been socialized and indoctrinated, or
conditioned, to think a certain way.

The reality is that many of us no longer think… we
simply do what we are told to do!

The problem with that is that we are often told to do
things, and we are told to think in ways that actually
work against us. That thinking keeps us “socialized” but
also almost too docile!

Most of us aren’t born thinking the way that we currnetly
do, we are taught as we grow up NOT to think in ways that
would actually work better for us and allow us to do more.

Consider that most of us as children didn’t put any
limitation on what we could have, or be, or do.

“Caring adults” taught us to settle for less, and to
“have more reasonable expectations.”

Caring adults, and the institutions that they built,
taught us not to expect to be truly happy, to feel a
real sense of purpose, to expect to be really loved
or to risk loving freely, etc.

They taught us that “money doesn’t grow on trees” but
they didn’t teach us that money is nothing more than
a concept, and that the supply really is limitless.

They taught us that as you get older you should expect
all kind of degenerative diseases to set in and that
your senior years HAVE to be very uncomfortable.

They programmed you… passing along that belief system,
not because they were intentionally evil, but because
that was what they were programmed to believe.

As I said earlier, I’m updating my operating system,
and since what we do is a factor of what we believe,
you have to start with updating YOUR belief system.

I don’t think that you will argue that we have more
knowledge/understanding, and technology at our fingertips
that at any time in history.

Doesn’t that suggest that we also have a greater
capability to figure out the solutions to seemingly
insurmountable challenges than at in time in history?

If that is the case, then we each have to begin by
honestly asking ourselves, “what is holding us back.”

Back in 1990, while stationed at Yokota Air Base,
Japan, I let some co-workers talk me into climbing
Mt. Fuji.

It was a rather long, somewhat tedious climb, that I
think took me five hours. We started our climb at a
“station” already partly up the mountain… where
buses commonly dropped people off.

We climbed at night, when it was cooler, with
flashlights strapped to our heads. It was fun looking
down the mountain and seeing all of the other lights,
like a trail of ants

The air got thinner and thinner as we climbed, and
I had to stop and take numerous breaks. We arrived
at the top somewhere around sunrise, if I remember
correctly.

After a short break, where we admired the scenery,
noticing that the water was actually bubbling in the
crater of the still-active volcano, and taking lots of
photos, we headed back down.

All the way up, I followed a well-traveled path. I stuck
to the zig-zag trail most of the way back down too.

However, I did stop once, and noticing that if I got
off the trail for a while, I could probably save
50 yards, by going more direct.

That’s when life taught me that often it’s better
to follow the well-blazed trail than to think that you
are smarter than tens of thousands of others who could
follow simple, proven instructions.

Almost as soon as I stepped outside the carved pathway,
I could sense that the hill was a lot steeper. In fact,
it was so steep, that I soon began to slide down the side
of the mountain. I dropped to the ground where I
continued to roll until… luckily I arrived back on the
trail.

Getting up, dusting off my torn clothing, and noticing
only a few scrapes and bruises, I waited for my friends
to catch up with me, then smiled sheepishly, and stuck
to the trail the rest of the way down

Online today, I see many people who want to start
businesses, also think that they are smarter that all
of the successful people who have gone before them.

They observe the others successfully navigating the
trail, and earning a decent income, but reason that
there must be a faster, less meticulous way.

Those people try shortcut-after-shortcut, sometimes
getting scrapes and bruises for YEARS, before they
stand up… safely back on the trail, and like me,
sheepishly decide that maybe that’s the better way.

These are all typical responses that most people get when asking
partners and affiliates to promote their offers.

Chances are you’ve gotten answers much like these, right?

Don’t despair … there are ways around the barriers of
reluctance and passiveness.

Let me share some simple ideas for getting affiliates to take
action on your promotions quickly. I use the acronym “N.O.W.” to
describe three ways to get others to promote you now…

N – News

In journalism, no one wants to be “scooped” when it comes to
newsworthy items. Sharing some big story that another network or
publication broke days ago is a big “no-no”. You always want to
be first when it comes to getting the word out.

That same philosophy applies to what I’ve labeled “The Principle
of First”. The idea is simple: being “first to market” aids in
responses. Those who let their contacts know about your news
promptly will generate the greatest results. If they wait,
someone else will break the news.

So, to apply this principle, you simply need to create some
newsworthy buzz that your affiliates and partners can’t pass up
on sharing with their network of influence.

**CASE STUDY**

Several months ago I decided that I was going to remove the
archives from one of my membership sites. This announcement
served as a strong motivator to get my affiliates to promote my
site promptly before someone else did. The result was almost 500
new members paying monthly fees!

If you make dramatic changes to your offer, or create some other
kind of “story” or “news” that warrants discussion promptly,
you’ll find you can get many fence-setters active in promoting
you.

O – Occasions

Another great way to motivate affiliates to get active is to use
“occasions” that have a real deadline involved.

Some examples include –

* Product launches
* Firesales
* Live events (teleseminars, workshops, etc.)
* Contests
* Special offers
* Limited quantities

This is what might be referred to as “The Principle Of Force”.
That is, you MUST promote the offer now or miss out simply
because the offer will no longer be valid. You “force”
participation.

For example: If you have a 3-day “firesale” set for a specific
date, then anyone interested in earning commissions for referring
customers to the “firesale” would be “forced” to promote it
during your pre-determined timeframe or they’d miss out because
the event will end.

My recommendation is that you schedule some kind of “occasion”
every quarter. That should give you four significant spikes in
your revenue each year, which can be a tremendous boost to your
bottom line.

W – Wants

What do your partners and affiliates want? Seriously, stop and
think about that for a moment. In fact, go one step further than
that and ASK them a simple question…“What would it take for you
to promote this offer this week?”

Make it happen.

I want you to remember the intangibles here: the sales of your
initial offer aren’t really all that important. (Don’t freak out,
hear what I have to say It’s building a lead list, an
affiliate list and a customer list along with ADDITIONAL offers
over time that makes the real money.

Consider this –

Option A:

Miss Ima Guru ignores your request to promote your offer as it
currently stands.

Option B:

Miss Ima Guru accepts your modified offer which includes giving
her 100% of the revenue she generates. You make nothing off her
promotion…but in the process of her promotion she adds 500 new
subscribers to your list, 75 new affiliates and 60 new customers.

Which would you rather have?

Whatever it takes to get people to promote your offer now, make
it happen.

*** NOTE ***

Now, let me make a simple suggestion here: The deal you make
should be directly proportional to the potential results the
partner represents.

Some affiliates and partners bring more to the table and should
be offered more in order to get them to participate.

That being said, you can get virtually any affiliate to promote
you now if you make it worth their while. So, ask them, “what
will it take?”

This is what I call “The Principle Of Fear”. That is, a feeling
of “This is such a compelling offer, I can’t afford to miss out
on this deal.”

All of this adds up to more involvement and participation among
your affiliates and partners…

N – News +
O – Occasions +
W – Wants =

It’s fairly common knowledge these days that your
personal income will tend to be the average income
of your five closest friends. That’s to an extent
because we tend to think and act like those that we
hang around.

Consequently, my closet friends as all “filthy rich!”

You see, I have no problem admitting that I desire
tremendous wealth, because my very wealthy friends
have taught me that that’s how you do tremendous good
in the world. They taught me that you go out and
earn wealth first, and then you dedicate a lot of
your time and wealth to things that you consider
worthy causes.

They taught me that good intentions don’t feed the
hungry, clean the environment, cure major diseases,
or fund any charitable causes. Developing and
using good business skills to generate tremendous
wealth that you can use to fund work in those areas
does!

They taught me that you don’t wait to start helping,
but that you can help a lot faster if you focus on
wealthy creation first!

Now that we have that out of the way, how do you
actually become filthy rich. I’ve already shared
one way… you associate with others who are already
doing extremely well, and you learn from them.

Before you make the excuse that there is NO WAY
that they will allow you into their inner circles, let
me point out that they let ME (a farm kid from North
Carolina who spent all of his youth on welfare, before
spending 20 years in the military) into their inner
circles.

They did it for one simple reason… I showed them
that I had something to offer them, AND I showed them
that I genuinely had their best interests at heart.

As a result, they grabbed me by the hand, taught me,
and made me “one of them!”

What are some of the secrets though… secrets that are
really non-secrets?

1) The wealthy don’t work for their money, they make
their money work for them. They make investments in
things that average people ignore for some reason. So,
while most Americans get 1-2% returns on their savings,
my friends get 24% or more, and with NO RISK!

2) The wealthy don’t trade time for money, they create
assets that generate interest and residual income…
they create capital assets. Online marketers who
create products and set up membership sites, are sort
of headed in the right direction… but they usually
don’t fully “get it.”

3) The wealthy use other people’s time. Instead of
doing the work themselves, they hire others who can
often do the work better, for a fraction of what it
would cost them to do it.

Some online marketers outsource, which is headed in the
right direction, but they also need to learn to better
delegate. That also includes delegating the management
of the outsourced workers.

4) The wealthy use leverage offered through tools such
as software. An example is the piece of software that
I use to save me hundreds of hours while identifying
what keywords I should focus on…. and what niches
are profitable. That’s this piece of software:

5) The wealthy leverage other people’s assets. As a
JV broker, I and my clients focus less on list-building
than on locating and courting those who have already
built lists.

We focus on finding centers of influence who already
have the trust and attention of our ideal customers,
and we get them to recommend our quality services and
products to their audiences.

6) The wealthy actually make more by practicing
social entrepreneurialism. Properly embracing worthwhile
causes can actually provide millions of jobs, provide
lots of resources more cost-efficiently to consumers,
and actually serve the less-fortunate… actually putting
their needs and best-interests first.

That’s one of the seldom-recognized secrets of the “filthy
rich.” They actually approach business by looking for
major, real problems that they can solve. Many of them do
more “good” than many governments.

7) Those achieving lasting real wealth do it by delivering
tremendous value to others. They strive to improve the
lives of others. They don’t sell people garbage because
they GET the saying “when I harm you, I also harm me!

The wealthy value time ahead of practically any other
asset. It’s the one thing that we all have an equal amount
of, yet properly managed, some of us can get ten times
as much done in the same amount of time.

Since the wealthy better manage their time, they often
seem to have more of it for doing the things that they
really want to do.

That “thing” is very often spending more time with family
in friends. Contrary to a popular belief that I had before
making lots of wealthy friends, they usually have a LOT
of quality time with their kids. My friends simply make
it a priority!

YOU simply have to make being in charge of how your

time is spent a priority. If you don’t, then you’ll soon
notice others taking control of your time, and “spending
your life.”

Proper time management is actually one of those things
that, once mastered, offers the greatest leverage in
growing your wealth.

An example is that I often set aside time to actually
intensely focus on getting projects done. I set aside
time to mastermind, in a controlled environment, with
some very high-powered thinkers, and in a matter of
days we often get more DONE, and move more projects
