Many internet marketers brag about how few hours
they work. They brag about how lazy they are.
Well, I’ve been in internet marketing for 14
years, putting in many 18 hour day, and I still
often put in 16 hour days.
Looking at the income many of the others claim
to earn, and at their business models, I don’t
believe that many of them work as little as they
say they do unless they do a LOT of outsourcing.
That is the solution that I’m moving more and
more towards. I recently checked out John
Jonas’ Replace Myself training, and have decided
to outsource 90%… or more of the work involved
in running my business.
You can check out John’s course here.
I AM an expert at SEO, html, writing, forum
marketing, blogging (note that this blog was
first set up in 2004), article marketing and
traffic generation, product creation,
copywriting… you name it.
I’ve learned to do most of the things involved
in running an online business. I never became
great at graphics or programming, but can
manage in a pinch.
However, I’ve moved more into the arena of
ecommerce consulting with local offline
businesses. In fact, I have as many clients
as I can handle in that arena… until I
hire some more outsource workers. I’m in the
process of doing that.
One of my teachers.. Maria Gudelis teaches that
in the world of offline marketing, you land the
job, and hand the work off to your outsourced
workers as soon as practical. You still manage
it, but you DON’T do most of the work yourself!
You become more of a CEO.
That has been my biggest mistake and why I’ve
worked so many 16-18 hour days.
I’ve committed to stopping that insanity, and
I hope to be down to maybe working 2-4 hours
a day by the middle of next month. I think
that that is a realistic number of hours to
work given my income goals.
By the way, the reason I have ALL the local
offline clients that I can handle is because
of Maria’s training. She really knows her
stuff. Her FIRST offline consulting client
was a $50,000 job.

If you drive through my neighborhood and
see me out walking with earphone on, I’m
most-likely listening to Maria’s training…
reinforcing how to do certain things more
efficiently… and how to “scale” my
business.
I am a recovering workaholic, who will soon
spend a lot more time out fishing or on the
golf course. My game needs a LOT of work.
