Learning Internet Marketing Real Fast

The last several weeks have reaffirmed for me the
fact that face-to-face, hands-on interaction is the
best way to learn this business for most people!

I've attended 2 major workshops and talked on the
phone with at least 80 people in that time. The
workshops were Joel Christoper's Master List Builders'
Workshop in San Antonio, Texas and Ramon Williamson's
Coaching Weekend in Herndon, Virginia. If you'll
humor me for a few minutes I'd like to share a little
of what these experiences have meant to me.

First of all, when I look at workshops sometimes I am
not sure how much new I will learn. After all, I've
been in business on-line since 1997. Surely, I'm
beginning to understand what works in building a
sustainable, moneymaking, internet-based business. The
fact is, that I do have a good grasp of the basics.
However, I did learn a lot and made major life-changing
decisions and connections at both events.

At Joel's List Building Workshop I listened to recognized
experts such as Alex Mandossian, Joel Christopher, Lee
Benson, Frank Garon, Marlon Sanders, Jason Potash, George
Mckenzie, Terry Dean and Paul Myers teach list building.
They taught the roomful of attendees what is actually
working for them. Then Joel did something very necessary
- he teamed his attendees up and arranged for them to
continue implementing the ideas after the workshop. We
formed teams that will help keep each other on track
after the event.

As I've often said, the networking part of events like
this are the most valuable thing to me. I formed list
building, and other types of joint venture agreements
at Joels workshop. As a result, my list-building is
already picking up speed. I embrassed one of the
undeniable truths about attending any type of training.
Nothing changes until you do. Nothing happens until
you take action to make it happen. Having a system in
place that pushes you towards taking action and making
necessary changes is what makes these events effective
for me.

At Ramon's workshop, we spent a lot of time identifying
exactly what niche each workshop attendee should target.
Each attendee got his/her turn in the hotseat and the
entire room helped them brainstorm. Ramon's workshop
ran from 8am - 10 pm and were packed with high-power
information that transformed many lives. Attendees not
only "drilled down" to discover their true passions,
they committed to make their dreams a reality. Very
powerful stuff!

At both workshops we exchange business cards and contact
information. At both workshops we agreed to follow up
with each other after the workshops. I have followed up
with individuals from both workshops and have several
joint projects moving forward nicely.

In between workshops and organizing all of the logistics
of my own workshop scheduled for May 2nd-4th, 2003, I
spent time on the phone with several networking or
mastermind groups that I belong to. These were typically
1 hours calls where all members call into a common
number and we continue moving every group member towards
our common objective. If you are not a member of a

Another insight that jumped out at me at both workshops
I attended and all the networking I've done in between
is the fact that EVERY successful person I know has
a mentor, coach, or trusted advisior. Joel Christopher,
Marlon Sanders, Alex Mandossian and a few others all
share ideas and coach each other in areas that they
excel in. These guys all live in San Antonio and Joel
and Marlon are neighbors. They often take long walks
and brainstorm or gather at one of their homes. Just
doing a little brainstorming with these guys over
dinner was almost enough for me to leave my beautiful
Northwest Florida paradise and move to San Antonio. I
did say almost :-)

What's the real point of all this rambling? It's very
difficult to do it all alone. When you can tap into the
experience and benefits from the mistakes made by others
it makes learning so much easier. When you share with
others what is and isn't working - and why - it speeds
up the learning process so much. When you not only
commit to yourself, but commit to your network to follow
thorough on a project, it gets finished. Obstacles that
were previously insurmountable seem to melt away.

Part of the reason you are able to get so much more done
when you network and tap into your mastermind group is
because you now have access to all of the assets of the
group. For example, my networks give me access to major
media contacts, major celebrities and prices for certain
services that are a fraction of what most people pay. My
network shows me what can be accomplished by providing me
with examples and regular contact with ordinary people
accomplishing extraordinary feats.
